[krah-krah-krah]

The meaning of the blackest birds of all (2022)

Being framed by stories we made ourselves, the crow and the raven survived some hard times in history. ‘Death’, ‘solitude’ and ‘scary’ are some words the crow is associated with most, because of what we remember of them, to be true. Our collective memory shaped our view and affected how we react to that memory of these black birds. Though, when we start to investigate and try to have a conversation we might end up having a different view on that very thing we framed and discarded before. By doing so, even the most unusual friendships could be formed between beings.

[krah-krah-krah] is a trilogy, existing of (1) an investigation of our collective memory of the crow and raven using only found footage, (2) a story made out of my own made pictures investigating my relationship with a crow, and (3) an essay discussing the impact of our collective memory on the bird and what her story means to me.
